Job Location: This role can be based in UK, Italy, Germany or Romania. Ideally the candidate would be able to work from one of our offices on a regular basis, however remote working is also an option, with travel as required.
Job Description
Aukera Energy currently has a pipeline of over 4GW of BESS across five of Europe’s most attractive markets, at either Ready to Build or at an advanced stage, with some projects already in construction. We are seeking to expand our BESS Engineering team who bring their expertise to all technical aspects across the lifecycle of BESS projects, from greenfield development to operations.
The role will have the following responsibilities:
- Maintain and evolve internal knowledge base of equipment supply and design options for BESS projects.
- Monitor the development and launch of new BESS products and technologies.
- Build and maintain relationships with design/engineering counterparties at BESS equipment suppliers including, but not limited to, batteries, inverters, MV transformers, switchgear, control systems and HV equipment.
- Assist the development teams with site/project evaluation and by providing feasible and efficient project layouts, taking into account any constraints or requirements concerning planning, grid, environment, efficiency and constructability.
- Assist with the negotiation and completion of EPC, BOS, LTSA, Equipment Supply, Optimiser Agreements, O&M, and other contracts, particularly technical appendices.
- Oversee detailed design / engineering programmes and deliverables working with consultants and sub-contractors to ensure scope is completed as planned.
- Review and contribute to the approval of design packages for construction.
- Manage technical query coordination with suppliers, sub-contractors and consultants at the design, selection, financing and project delivery stages.
- Assist in the negotiation of warranties and other supply terms of a technical nature.
- Implement detailed project plans, keeping track of risks, goals, tasks, resources, schedules, costs, and contingencies.
- Proactively mitigate risks and resolve any matters encountered in conjunction with the consultants/ subcontractors/ suppliers during project development and construction).
- Assist in the coordination of the technical commissioning process of projects and the identification of solutions to problems encountered.
- Prepare regular progress reports for projects including status of risks, any deviations from the scope.
- Prepare efficient designs for solar/BESS co-location.
- Assist in design and cost optimisation taking into account all EPC cost categories.
Experience & Qualifications
- BSc/BEng/Meng/MSc in electrical, mechanical, or other engineering discipline.
- Around 8 years of engineering experience overall, preferably in Renewable Energy, of which at least 3 years in a BESS-specific engineering role involving:
- BESS technical design and specification
- assessment and evaluation of BESS projects
- working with EPC companies and equipment manufacturers
- evaluation and selection of equipment
- commercial contracts input including warranties, supply terms, etc
- Experience with HV equipment components is an advantage
- Working knowledge of relevant project management and engineering design software

- Strong verbal and written skills in English are essential, and it would be an advantage if you can also speak any of the Aukera languages (German, Romanian, Italian, Spanish) , or Chinese.
