Job Description
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Manager to support our solar, battery and wind construction projects and operational activities across Romania, Germany and the UK. As part of our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our construction and operational sites comply with all relevant HSE regulations, support on site contractor monitoring, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of our HSE management systems and maintaining our ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
Responsibilities
Contractor Management:
Oversight of owners Engineers and EPC Contractors on E&S matters, including to evaluate and review contractor HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements to ensure they meet the company’s and legal requirements for Renewables and BESS construction projects.
Conduct regular site visits to perform HSE audits and inspections, ensuring all health, safety, ESIA / ESAP / SEP requirements and environmental regulations are followed during project execution and operations.
HSE Oversight and Compliance:
Monitor and ensure full compliance with local legislation and global industry best practice.
Manage and investigate any HSE incidents or near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting and identification of root causes, and leading follow-up corrective actions.
Maintain up-to-date records of HSE audits, inspections, training, and incidents, and report on key HSE metrics to project management.
Support project to meet obligations for community relations, grievance management, management of worker accommodation, and monitoring of environmental and social performance.
Support ISO 45001 HSE Management System Development:
Assist in developing and maintaining the HSE management system 45001 and 14001 certifications, ensuring it is implemented effectively and continuously improved across all projects.
Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and other HSE-related training to employees and contractors. Promote a positive safety culture and raise awareness of potential risks on-site.
Recommend and implement improvements to HSE practices and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company objectives.
Experience & Qualifications
· Degree or certification in Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering, or related field.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably within the construction or renewable energy sectors.
· Strong knowledge of Romanian HSE regulations and ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
· Experience in conducting HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
· Fluent in Romanian and English, both written and spoken.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and IT literacy.
Business Skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively working with contractors, project teams, and external stakeholders.
· Ability to provide strategic HSE advice and challenge contractors while maintaining a collaborative relationship.
· Willingness to travel to various project sites across Romania and other countries, as required
· Valid driving license.
